Recruitment process

Applying for a job at HSBC can involve several stages. Knowing what to expect and how to prepare can help you through the recruitment process. Whenever possible, we’ll try to shorten our standard process outlined below. However, depending on the specific requirements of the hiring team, an additional interview or meeting maybe required – we’ll keep you informed on every stage:

If your profile matches our requirements, a member of our HR team will contact you.


Phone interview

Congratulations, you’ve made a great first impression on us! Now, we’ll call you to learn more about your professional experience, motivation, interest in the role and your desired career path. The phone call also gives you an opportunity to ask questions about the company, the role and recruitment process details.


Online assessment

You are doing great! Now it’s time to check your knowledge and experience in practice. We’ll invite you to participate in an online assessment. The test is designed to assess your suitability for working at HSBC as you’ll be faced hypothetical but realistic scenarios about your future job. You can take the assessments at any time within a fixed number of days, as specified in the email we’ll send you.


Face-to-face interview

Thanks for completing the assessment! Now we’ll invite you to our office for a face-to-face meeting with your potential manager. Take this opportunity to fully showcase your knowledge and other skills relevant to your future role. Don’t be afraid to ask questions – it’s probably the best way to make sure you have a full picture of the role and HSBC.


Feedback and final offer

You’ve made it! You’ve reached the last stage of our process. Regardless of the outcome, we’ll provide you with the honest and professional feedback how well you did. If you are successful, our recruiter will get in touch and present you the final job offer.


Background check

After accepting the offer, we’ll ask you to provide us with information about your past employment and education in order to complete the vetting process. This is a standard approach towards all future employees of the bank.
