Headquarters Multinational Corps Northeast (HQ MNC NE) is part of the NATO Force Structure. It serves as a persistently present, regionally focused headquarters ready and stand-by to take the lead of Allied operations across the north-eastern flank of NATO as a Land Component Command.
Since June 2017, HQ MNC NE has been operating as a High-Readiness Force Headquarters. HQ MNC NE is a significant reinforcement of NATO’s rapid reaction capability and a military key guarantor for peace in the Baltic Sea region. The Headquarters provides the unity of command for NATO activities across Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland. As the highest NATO command in the region, HQ MNC NE has assigned responsibility for the NATO ground troops already deployed to the north-eastern flank of the Alliance. If need be, the Headquarters is ready to command and control many more, including the land units of the NATO Response Force. HQ MNC NE and its subordinate units train for defensive operations, in order to effectively deter any attack and if need be to defend the Alliance's northeastern territory against any aggressor.
The Corps' Headquarters is based in Szczecin, Poland.
